Lucas Jankowski and Anna Kaczmierzakow were both born in Czarkowo, Poland. Apparently, they lived their entire lives in Czarkowo. Sometime before 1793, they were married, and Anna gave birth to seven children. Lucas and Anna's second child, Joseph, became the father of Constantin, who would become Lena's grandfather. As near as can be determined, Constantin was the only immigrant to America of this extended family. Little is known about the family in the early 1800's.
