Michael Zielinski was born on April 26, 1834 in the village of Portschweiten, Poland, the first known child of Jan Zielinski and Elizabeth Pawlowski. He had at least three younger siblings: Mary, John, and Anne. Portschweiten is in Pestlin Parish, but at some point the family moved to Wilczewo, also in Pestlin Parish.
Justina Kulecka was born around December of 1837, location unknown. Michael and Justina were married in Pestlin on January 24, 1860, both residing in Wilczewo at the time. The couple had 8 children, all born in Wilczewo, and all baptism records having been found.
No immigration records have been found for this family as of yet. However, later records indicate that Michael and Justina and at least 6 of the children did immigrate to the United States. The other two children, Francisca and Hedwig, have not turned up in any US records, indicating that they may have died in Poland before the family immigrated. It is known that the family was still in Poland on January 26, 1879, the date of Antonie's birth. The oldest child, Anton, was married in Menasha, Wisconsin on January 19, 1886. It is assumed that the entire family immigrated sometime between these two dates.
Michael passed away on April 29, 1906 in Menasha, and is buried in St. John's Cemetery there. Cause of death is not known. Justina died in 1921, and is also buried in St. John's Cemetery in Menasha. Both death dates came from headstones. I have not located a death record for either Michael or Justina.
